"The Lord Is My Strength!"

"The name of the LORD is a strong tower:
the righteous runneth into it, and is safe."
(Proverbs 18:10)

Everybody gets there.  Where? That place where our strength is sapped, our war has turned to weary, our stand has resorted to a stoop, our muscles have lost their bulge  ...  but, that's when we run to the Lord, and HE is a strong tower, our place of refuge, the One who is a safe place to hide in the midst of the storm, the tower that stands against all danger  ...  Even the strongest of all has need of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Samson's last stand began with a "prayer" for God to give him strength   ...  one more time!  His game with Delilah and the deadly "riddles" resulted in his hair being cut, which was the source of his strength, per his nazarite vow.  They, then captured him, gouged out his eyes, and set him to grinding in the mill like an animal.  But, the circle always comes back to God.  The arena was full, and they decided to bring blind Samson out to mock and laugh at him once more, but Samson wanted to be placed between those two pillars for his last triumph.  Ah, but they made the mistake of letting his hair grow back, and his strength had returned  ... So, in his final "prayer," the Lord's strength to him brought the huge unmovable pillars crashing down like sticks of toothpicks crumbling in a heap, and he killed more in his death, than in his life.

"The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock,
in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold."
(Psalm 18:2)

"O, Savior, hide me under the rock that is higher than I."  It's a song; it's a psalm, and it's a prayer.  Life has a way of knocking the breath out of us, but, God  ...  I said, "But, GOD," gives us the impetus to keep going, to take one more step, to make it one more day, to breathe one more breath, to call out one more time, to fight one more battle, to pull out that sword another time, to put on our marching boots once more, and to "put our hands between the pillars of evil and satan" for one last triumph!  For us, it means that we have victory over the one who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy us  ...  namely satan; he uses every ploy in his evil seductive mind to kill the "strength" in us to endure to the end.  But, he's never grown any smarter, since he was kicked out of heaven; he underestimates the STRENGTH of our Lord Jesus Christ, which is IN US!

Samson's capture and blinding
"Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever
trusts in the LORD is kept safe."
(Proverbs 29:25)

You say, "But, Samson wasn't kept safe; his God wasn't there to help him; he was captured and blinded."  That's right, but it was because Samson let his guard down and played with his consecration; he played with the holy vow that preserved his strength.  He thought it was a fun game to pose riddles to Delilah, hinting at the source of his strength.  He was toying with the sacred things of God.  We get "burned" when we think, as Christians, we can take that drink, snort that drug, sleep with that girl or guy, do that unspeakable thing  ...  just once; it won't hurt  ...  Ah, but it WILL hurt; you'll be blinded, and you'll REAP what you have sown!  It doesn't mean God left YOU; it means YOU left Him!  There IS forgiveness, but it's a long road back  ...  KEEP the sacred things sacred; don't play games with the holiness of God; don't toy with your salvation; do not trade a moment of "pleasure" for years of disgrace  ...  DON'T DO IT!  Samson's last prayer restored him, but his own foolishness cost him his life in the end.  It's a powerful message.  We ARE NOT "once saved always saved."  Paul said that he had to keep his flesh under control lest that he, after having preached to others, might become a castaway.  We, ourselves, are the only ones who can remove us from the grace and protection of Almighty God.  WE must guard our consecration  ...  always  ...

Be strong in the Lord and the power of His might; keep His Word; obey His commands; stand without wavering; hold fast to His unchanging love; guard that holy anointing within you; don't chase Delilah; say NO to the world; make no provision for the "flesh;" be filled with the Holy Ghost  ...  and STAY filled up, sold out, sanctified, unmovable, unwavering  ...  Be strong!  God will keep us safe, if we hide ourselves in Him!

Samson's pillars represented his enemy.  Our "PILLARS" represent the "pillars" of Truth standing strong and mighty in our walk of faith!  They are the Word and the Spirit of Jesus Christ, our Lord.  Keep them strong within you, hide the Word in your heart and let the Spirit of Almighty God consume you to overflowing, keeping your lamp oiled and ready  ...  because He's coming back for the one who knows and lives the words  ...  "The Lord Is My Strength."
