"Triumphant Entry!"

"As soon as you enter the village, you will find a donkey colt that
no one has ever ridden tied up. Untie it and bring it to me. If anyone
should say, 'Why are you doing that?' please say, 'The Lord requires it.
[We] will bring it back here right away.' "
(Mark 11)

People worshiping as Jesus enters Jerusalem!

They were humble beginnings for the Lord's "riding" days, when He made His triumphant entry into Jerusalem on that Sunday, the week before He was to be crucified.  He came riding on a borrowed colt, a slow moving ride that was a path of rejoicing for "Hosanna" yelling people, but the heart of the God dwelling in flesh, now riding an unbroken colt, was heavy with the vision of the cross lingering in His prophetic knowing mind.  The adoring, faithful, and worshipful following didn't know what lay ahead; they didn't know the Man riding on the colt would soon be whipped and beaten until He was covered with His own holy blood; they didn't know He was about to be crowned in mockery with a thorny halo pressing into His skull like piercing needles into dreading flesh; they didn't know He would be spit upon and shamed, and nailed to a cross to die  ...  for them  ...  and for you and me, and for all mankind  ...  they didn't know  ...

Jesus Christ on the cross

The triumphant ride took the God of creation to His death nailed to a cross, raised high in the very sky He breathed into existence; it was what He came to do; the blood poured from His body as a holy offering given for the souls of the world.

The end of the story is yet to be told!  The Lord Jesus Christ, God of all creation, the Holy One of Israel, Almighty God in the flesh, "came" into this world with nothing  ...  A Man who owned the cattle on a thousand hills, a God who created the universe, The One true God, The I AM of heaven and earth, came in the flesh and had to borrow a colt to ride to His death, but the end "to come" reveals a "risen" Lord, a God the grave could not hold  ...  Ah yes, the end of the story is quite different; The omnipotent One will come back for His Church, and we will meet Him in the air; and then, seven years later, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords will take back His earth!

"It Is Finished!"  The Lord Jesus Christ, the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, died on the cross, was buried in a tomb, rose the third day, and He IS ALIVE forevermore!  The little borrowed colt is far behind Him; the price was paid for the world He loves; the empty tomb has only the garment and a lingering misty presence; the cross is embedded in His nail-scarred hands and feet; and upon the throne sits The One who is biding His time until "time shall be no more;" the countdown ticks off one by one as the harvested go under in His name and speak in tongues of His Spirit  ...  and we wait   ...  because we know there is yet to come another triumphant ride, but this time  ...

"And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him
was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a
name written, that no man knew, but he himself.  And he was clothed with a
vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.  And the armies
which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and
clean.  And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the
nations:  and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress
of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.  And he hath on his vesture and
on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS."
(Revelation 19)
