"Memorial Day"

You fought for our freedoms, and you battled for
the rest of us in need
We owe you our all, as you gave yourselves for a
cause that made you bleed
Never will we forget the price you paid with your
lives, your bodies, and your souls
You surrendered not to enemies, but to the cause for
democracy, and to make us whole
You watched as your fellow soldiers fell and died, in
your weary fighting arms
It makes us surrender our prayers to the living and
past heroes, offering themselves to harm
The gunfire, explosions, the screams and resounding
echoes, of soldiers crying out
It's a haunting of one's dreams and a torture of the mind,
a thing called war, a terrifying bout
But "fight on" was your motto, your determination,
and your honored creed
For you were a soldier, and soldiers never quit; they
march and fight; and never secede
We remember your tired and aching arms, as we prayed
for your safety, and your success
We're so thankful for you, today, rendering all you had
for us; we cannot express
To those who died, you are lifted up as the embodiment of
courage, in each and every way
You're the gold standard of our land in value and in
honor, on this "Memorial Day."
