"Come Home!"

"I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned
against heaven and against you.  I am no longer worthy to be called your son;
make me like one of your hired servants.’  So he got up and went to his father.
“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled
with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and
kissed him.  “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven
and against you.  I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’   “But the
father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him.
Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.  Bring the fattened calf
and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate.  For this son of mine was
dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found."
(Luke 15:18-24)

The son has returned, bowing in obeisance and surrender, to the
Father he feared would turn him away
But the Father rejoiced, called for the fatted calf, the ring, a
robe, and sandals on his feet to array
So it is with the Creator toward His own beloved creation; if you
go astray, He longs for you with open arms
And all the while you wandered, He covered you with His love,
and tried to keep you from all harm
A Father like no other is the Lord in whom you serve; His tears
drip upon your brow, when the world replaces Him
Oh, my child, He cries, "Don't you know, without me, You will
fall to hurt when you follow your sinful whims?"
You are ever on His mind; He bought you with His blood, and
your name is in the scars of His palms
He tries to woo you with His whispers, His love songs, and your
remembrance of His Word in psalms
He beckons you with every mention of His presence by those
around you, nudging you by His Spirit
You must listen and be drawn to His love; stop running, and
ignore the growls causing you to fear it
Jesus Christ will never give up on those He's called His own; He
will fight for you fiercely to the end
For He leaves the ninety and nine to go after the lost sheep; He
wants you in His arms when it's time to ascend
You know, He follows you into the bars and evil places, hoping
to catch your eye, and cause you to look up
He guards you and hovers over you, like a mother watching over
 her roving, careless, unknowing pup
You will be forgiven and welcomed with love and joy, if only you
will turn around, and go back toward the light
It's the place of peace and safety, abiding in your Savior, and
holding Him tight with all your might
The times are winding down, and the minutes are ticking away,
renew His Spirit within you, and be free
For the night is coming when deception will be rampant, and it
will be too dark for the rebellious to see
Do you smell the feast now roasting?  It's for you, you know, as
you turn back to Jesus, never more to roam
His eyes are upon you, the robe is in His hand; He has sandals
for your tired, weary feet  ...  please "Come Home!"
