"Giving, Asking Nothing In Return"

"The Levites entered the ministry at 30 and retired at 50,
with no inheritance."
(Pastor Kenneth Phillips)

The Levites, ministering with the whole heart, body, soul and
mind, an offering of love for life
It's like the surrendered Ministers of today; their lives are given
in beauty, like the sweet melody of a fife
Selfless and continual; they minister night and day, with the
many offerings of prayers and fastings often
They stand in the stead for the flock, serving at the altar, sending
up incense, from the unctions they've gotten
Shepherds rarely sleep, for they watch upon the wall, and sing
their psalms to the Lord, and King of Kings
He called them and chose them to do His bidding in the earth;
they do it with fervor, and the Lord 's heart sings
Who can the Lord find, as He searches to and fro; are there
any with a heart like His, in mortal earth?
Oh, Yes, is His reply; His chosen and anointed carry the burden
for the lost, and they long to give birth
It's a Spiritual birth of water and Spirit, for all of those who will
come; the Lord Jesus beckons them on
He died to set men free and wash away their sins; He longs to
see them with joy, peace, and their troubles gone
This same heart of God lives in His chosen Shepherds, and so
beautiful are their ever traveling feet
From Nation to Nation they go, in search of desperate souls to
touch with power, and make them complete
It's a lonely life of periods of deep groans, seasons of joy, and
dimensions of His glory, to enter and behold
Only the ones who sit at His feet, weep in His altar, and watch in
the shadows, know the cost of the sheepfold
Thank you, Lord, for the shepherds you've appointed; we won't
take them for granted; they are golden vessels
They're the closest thing in earth that we have, to compare with
Your created Hosts of heavenly angels
Bless them, O Lord, every one, we pray, and grant us Your
provision to heap upon them; for this we yearn
They are the levites of today, for your Church always; they do
it with all joy; "Giving, Asking Nothing In Return."
