On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices
they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from
the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While
they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like
lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their
faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among
the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was
still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of
sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ”
Then they remembered his words.
(Luke 24:1-35)
Jesus Christ, our Lord, has risen from the dead and He is alive!
His blood shed for you and me paid the price
He was the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world, a human
sacrifice, but He was GOD, and it would suffice
It was sinless blood, that was shed on the cross for all mankind,
and His last words said it all, "It IS Finished!"
The GOD of the universe was manifest in the flesh, died like a
criminal to redeem the world; "He IS cherished!"
He said He would get up, that He would rise on the third day
after crucifixion, and His promises are kept
He folded the grave cloth, walked out of the tomb, as the stone
rolled away, all while an unsuspecting world slept
It was a masterful plan, contrived maybe when Adam and Eve were
thrown out of Eden's garden for the first Sins
And, for hundreds of years, the blood of animals was applied to
cover the sins for another year, knowing nobody wins
There must be shedding of blood for the forgiveness of Sin, but
the sacrifices never were enough, just a quick fix
It would not end there, for God, born of a virgin, lived to 33,
was crucified and arose; it's the finest of all epics
It was for the redemption of all mankind; He took our place on the
cross, and our sins are erased and forgiven
When we walk away from the temptations of Hell, and embrace
our Savior's gospel; we set our course for heaven
We repent of our sins; we're filled with His Spirit and speak in His
tongue; we're baptized in His name and ready to fly
He said some will be taken, in the moment in the twinkling of an
eye, as stated in I Corinthians 15:52; we won't die
It's the escape route for the saved in Christ Jesus, before the
great and terrible Tribulation period of earth's torment
It would be wise, then, for creation made from dust, to be awake
for His arrival and not careless and dormant
He will come like He said He would, bursting through the clouds,
like a thief in the night; it's a fact, He will arrive
He thought about it when He walked out of the tomb; the rest of
the story will unfold, because "Jesus Christ is ALIVE!"
