"No Ordinary Baby"

"No Ordinary Baby"

"..And shalt call his name JESUS.  He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest, and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there shall be no end."  (Luke 1:31-33)

Jesus Christ our Lord was no ordinary baby; He was the Almighty God of the universe manifested in the flesh.  I Timothy 3:16 says, "And without controversy, great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory."  Who did all of that?  Jesus Christ!  It is settled; Jesus Christ is God!

Jesus, 12 years old, preaching, astounding
the Doctors in the Temple

Jesus Christ was the epitome of wisdom even at 12 years of age.  The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us  ...  He was dwelling in the Temple confounding the elite of that day with words such as they had never heard.  When you can't find your 12 year old; is he in the Temple preaching?  Not today!  This was no ordinary baby, and no ordinary young boy  ... this was God in the flesh  ...  doing what God does  ...

Jesus, working with Joseph, His earthly
father in the Carpenter shop

The Lord Jesus Christ worked in the carpenter shop with Joseph; He also believed in paying taxes: "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's and unto God, the things that are God's." (Matthew 22:21)  Jesus Christ our Lord Was and Is God, but He was also a hard worker, a man of principle, and the greatest example of a servant.  "What?" you say.  He washed men's feet, cooked fish for His disciples on the seashore, and was good at miraculously preparing feasts at a moment's notice!

Jesus Walking on the Water

Jesus forgives woman at the well

The Lord Jesus Christ healed the sick, raised the dead, opened blind eyes and deaf ears, cleansed the lepers, cast out devils, walked on the water, and the list goes on and on.  Jesus Christ was in the people business  ...  Many times, the Bible states He was "moved by the multitudes."  He would have gone on healing, raising, and cleansing, but His time had come.  He prayed in the Garden, "Let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not my will, but thine be done."  He was preparing for the culmination of why He came  ...  to take the sins of the world upon Himself  ...  to drink the cup that contained murders, adulteries, child abuse, and all the filth labeled SIN.  He was without sin, yet He bore the sins of every human being to redeem the creation He intended to live in holy bliss in the Garden of Eden.  He had to make a way for the world to be forgiven and live with Him, once again, in holiness and purity forever.

Jesus Christ praying

It was the plan of an omnipotent God: Overshadow a virgin with the Holy Ghost and be born to grow up, to be unmercifully beaten and scourged, bleed for the sins of the world, while nailed to a splintered cross, then hang His head and die with those final words, "It Is Finished."  Three days later, He arose, ALIVE; He was seen by His followers, and then He comforted them with the words that He would send His comforter, the Holy Ghost, His Spirit, to fill all mankind, whosoever would receive Him.  The command to a hurting world was:  Repent, be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you "shall" receive the gift of the Holy Ghost  ...  for the promise is unto you and your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.  He was not like any other baby  ...

The King of Kings and Lord of Lords ever lives to see all mankind receive the price He paid, be covered in His blood of forgiveness, be cleansed of all unrighteousness, be filled with His Spirit, baptized in His name, walk in newness of life, and prepare for His coming once again.

He Is the Lily of the Valley, the bright and morning star; beautiful for situation; He's the Joy of the whole earth.  He's the love of your soul, the Savior of the earth, the cool breeze in the heat of torment, the song in a woeful existence; He's your soft place to land in the rocky places of life, the arms of strength to carry your weary being, the power of your endurance when you cannot go on, the whisper in the moonlight to your longing lonely soul  ...  He Is, He Was, and He IS to come, the Lord Jesus Christ!

He was God, who scraped Himself from eternity, died like an animal, rose in power and Glory for You and me  ...  and the story lives on thousands of years later  ...  to today, Christmas month, 2011, and still we say with wonder and awe, as we feel His wonderful presence, bask in His Spirit, and long for His soon return  ...  He was "No Ordinary Baby!"
