"Behind the Veil"

"And Laban had two daughters: the name of the elder was Leah,
and the name of the younger was Rachel. Leah was tender eyed;
but Rachel was beautiful and well favored. "
(Genesis 29:16,17)

Rachel

"Jacob showed no interest in Leah but immediately focused on her younger
and more beautiful sister Rachel. Leah watched for seven years as
Jacob willingly served Laban to earn Rachel’s hand in marriage."

"As the wedding feast was planned, Laban had a scheme that would
successfully marry Jacob to Leah rather than Rachel.   Laban probably
intended to permit Rachel also to become Jacob’s wife, but Leah, being the
older daughter, must marry first according to tradition.  His plan was to trick
Jacob into believing he was marrying Rachel. As the festivities served as a
distraction, Leah was heavily veiled and took Rachel’s place on the wedding night."

"And it came to pass in the evening, that he took Leah his daughter,
and brought her to him; and he went in unto her."
(Genesis 29:23)

What a story!  Jacob went to work for his uncle, Laban, and he worked seven years for the hand of Rachel, whom he loved, but Laban tricked him, and substituted his older daughter, Leah, on Jacob's wedding night.  She was heavily veiled, so Jacob thought he was marrying his beloved Rachel.  It was not until the next morning that Jacob realized he had been tricked into marrying Leah.  Laban then told Jacob he would have to work seven more years for Rachel.  He did, and they finally married, but there was contention between the two sisters continually, because of Jacob's deep love for Rachel.

Oh, if Jacob could only have seen behind that veil!  It's quite a dilemma and interesting, isn't it, that we do, we always, reap what we sow.  Remember, Jacob and his mother plotted so that the birthright would be given to Jacob, instead of Esau, another trick.  But, we have to consider that Esau did not cherish the birthright as he should have, and he gave it up for a pot of stew because he was hungry.  But, here we see the circle coming back around and Jacob is tricked, as he tricked Esau.  However, prophecy never fails; Rebekah was told before the twins, Jacob and Esau, were born, that Jacob the younger one would be the ruling son.  Isaac, the father, was determined, though, to lay hands on Esau, the elder son, to pass the blessing and birthright.  But, Esau was immoral and careless; he clearly was not the best choice for the blessing.  Isaac was 120 years old at this time and almost blind, so he didn't know it was Jacob, and not Esau, when he pronounced the blessing and birthright on Jacob.  Prophecy wins again.

“But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year,
and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins
the people had committed in ignorance.”
(Hebrews 9:7)

Other  things go on behind veils that are also a mystery and they are worthy to be looked into.  Within the Holy Place of the tabernacle, there was an inner room called the Holy of Holy's, or the Most Holy Place.  A thick curtain separated the Holy of Holy's from the Holy Place.  This curtain was known as the "Veil" and in Hebrew means 'a separator that hides.'  What was it hiding?  It was shielding a Holy God from sinful man.  Whoever entered the Holy of Holy's was entering the very presence of God.  If anyone, other than the high Priest entered there, he would die, and the high Priest could only enter there once a year on the Day of Atonement.  When the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross, the Veil of the temple was rent from top to bottom, meaning that God's presence is now accessible to all.  Jesus' death atoned for our sins and made us right before God.  The torn veil illustrated Jesus’ body broken for us, opening the way for us to come to God.  The redemptive plan was now complete; the age of animal sacrifices was over, because the blood shed by the Lord Jesus Christ was the ultimate sacrifice for the sins of the world.

“Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place
by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through
the curtain, that is, his body …let us draw near to God with
a sincere heart in full assurance of faith.”
(Hebrews 10:19-22)

The presence of God is the Holy Ghost, the Spirit of the departed One, Jesus Christ our Lord.  We go "behind the veil" every time we speak in tongues, as the evidence of receiving the Spirit of God, or when we pray in the Spirit, in an unknown tongue.  The presence of God is within us through the infilling of His Spirit.

For Jacob, looking behind the veil, if he could have, would have saved him a lot of trouble.  Guess what, for us even today, going "Behind the Veil," or receiving the power of the Holy Ghost saves us a lot of trouble too.  The Spirit of Almighty God living within us pricks our consciences of wrong doing; it will raise our bodies on the day of the Rapture; the Spirit leads us into all truth; the Spirit comforts us and gives us strength.  It is fire shut up in our bones!  Many today have not gone behind the veil; they do believe in Jesus Christ, but they have not received His Spirit and spoken in tongues as the Bible says will happen, and does happen, when we are filled with His Spirit (Acts 19).  The Bible says that without His Spirit, we are none of His.

"But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that
the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not
the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his."
(Romans 8:9)

We are so blessed in this hour in which we live, because we are LIVING, BREATHING, SEEING, MOVING, and EXPERIENCING the very presence and Spirit "Behind the Veil."
