"Night Vision"

"For now we see through a glass, darkly;
but then face to face: now I know in part;
but then shall I know even as also I am known."
(I Corinthians 13:12)

We must keep perspective in this time of a shaking world, a shaking economy, a shaking of spiritual things and End time prophecy.  We must remember that this is not all there is.  As my Pastor has said many times; we only see half of the rainbow here; over there we will see the other half.  We will know all the answers by and by; we'll know the why's and the wherefores; we'll understand the Master's plan.  So, in this End time of severe and harsh uncertainty regarding everything in our lives, we must be able to see through the night, beyond the night; we must see through the eyes of God; we must see with the mind of Christ; we must have "Night Vision."

Barnes' Notes states, "Darkly - 'In a riddle.'  The word means a riddle; an enigma; then an obscure intimation. In a riddle, a statement is made with some resemblance to the truth; a puzzling question is proposed, and the solution is left to conjecture. Hence, it means, as here, obscurely, darkly, imperfectly .... The ancient Egyptian mirrors were dark and difficult to have a clear reflected image.  Compared with heaven, our knowledge here much resembles the obscure intimations in an enigma compared with clear statement and manifest truth."  The Bible is our truth to help us make it through, to help us endure to the end  ...  We are given clarity of many things, such as the Rapture of the Church, the great and terrible Tribulation period, the millennium which is the thousand years of peace.  But, even those things, we don't know some of the fine and intricate details; that's why we walk by faith.  Faith is seeing through a "glass darkly."

"And after my skin has been destroyed,
yet in my flesh I will see God;"
(Job 19:26)

We know the story of Job's suffering; his children were all killed, his servants, his cattle and herds, and then from head to foot, he broke out in terrible boils  ...  And, here he sat, while his wife said, "Curse God and die."  But, Job told her that she spoke as a foolish woman, and in his nine months of suffering, he did not charge Almighty God foolishly, not one time.  He kept his perspective  ... He realized what we must understand, that after this skin of ours, this flesh we are in, dies, we shall live on in the spirit with our God.  We shall behold Him in the Glory of His throne and where He is, we will be also!  Hallelujah!  Matthew Henry's commentary says it beautifully:

"With what pleasure holy Job enlarges upon this! May these faithful sayings be
engraved by the Holy Spirit upon our hearts. We are all concerned to see that the
root of the matter be in us. A living, quickening, commanding principle of grace
in the heart, is the root of the matter; as necessary to our religion as the root of the
tree, to which it owes both its fixedness and its fruitfulness. Job and his friends
differed concerning the methods of Providence, but they agreed in the root of the
matter, the belief of another world."

It may be dark in our current world, and we have so many things that are on our horizon, one-world currency, one-world government, and the constant threat of terrorism, but if we have Vision, if we can stand on the Word of God and what He has promised, while the tears stream down our faces, if we can just be like Job, and say, "In my flesh, I shall see God."  You say, "What did Job mean by that, because his flesh was being eaten away, and when we die, our flesh will decay from the body?"  He meant that "from his renewed body," as the starting point of vision, because we will have a NEW body in heaven, and in our new body, our new immortal body, we shall see God.

We see in part and we know in part now, but it will all make sense by and by.  The trials, the deserts, the brooks, the waiting, the sufferings, the heartaches  ... they will all have a final answer when we are able to see clearly  ...  when we get to the other side.  We will see the four and twenty elders, the throne of God, the Angels who guarded us and protected us day by day, our loved ones who went before us, the River of Life, the golden streets, the walls of jasper and the gates of pearl; but, before all that, we will head straight for the Holy One who whispered sweet nothings into our ears, who held us in His arms through the storms and trials, who watched us sleep and hovered with an aura of safety over us and our families, who lifted us up and filled us with His Spirit, who washed us clean with His blood shed for all mankind in waters of baptism in His name  ... and we will fall at His feet in worship to the One we so longed to see  ...  our Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ!

We shall behold Him, our Lord and Savior, the King of Kings, the Alpha and Omega, our soon coming King, Jesus Christ, and we shall see Him face to face.  Hallelujah!  Hold on children, just a little bit longer, stand strong in the faith, win every soul you see, remember you're the Bride of Christ, and be sure to hold tight to that holy and mighty "Night Vision."

"Pure In Heart"

"Blessed are the pure in heart:
 for they shall see God."
(Matthew 5:8)

Depiction of Mary, mother of Jesus

Man looks on the flesh, the body, the outward appearance, but God looks on the heart.  Man rewards actions, performances, and the strutting of human flesh, but God rewards the motive of the heart, the obeisance of the soul, the holiness of spirit, and the purity of the heart.  To "see God" means to behold His face.  We shall behold Him in all of His Glory  ...  if we keep our hearts pure; if we walk in holiness; if we live in repentance; if we receive His Spirit and speak in tongues as His Spirit gives utterance, and we must do it daily and continually, keeping our lamps oiled and ready; and if we are baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of our sins  ...

You say, "That's a lot of 'if's."  Yes, the Holy One of Israel, the Lord God Almighty said it first, "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."  (2 Chronicles 7:14)  We must have "if's" from God, because in our flesh dwells no good thing; we must keep our flesh under submission to the Holy One of Israel, and how do we do that?  A Cherokee indian said it best:

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about
battle that goes on inside people. He said, "My son, the
battle is between 2 "wolves" inside us all.  One is
Evil.  It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed,
arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies,
false pride, superiority, and ego.  The other is Good. It
is joy, peace,  love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness,
benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion,
and faith."  The grandson thought about it for a minute
and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?"
The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

"Create in me a pure heart, O God, and
renew a steadfast spirit within me."
(Psalm 51:10)

It's up to us, you know.  When we all stand before our Holy God, and we will, we will have no excuses; it will be "we" who guarded our hearts or exploited it, we who lived in sin or continued in repentance and holiness, we who prayed for and sought with diligence a pure heart or neglected our hearts, we who hid His Word in our hearts or never read it, we who finally saw His face or were cast into utter darkness.  In this age of "choice;" we must choose to follow the only One who loves us enough to save us, who forgives us and redeems us, who carries us through our storms when we belong to Him, who showers us with His love and gives us beauty for ashes, joy for mourning, blessing instead of cursing.  He does this for those with "pure" hearts, bowed knees, reaching arms, seeking souls, willing spirits and loyal minds  ...  to the One who died to set us free, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Repentance brings forgiveness
and Joy!

The bottom line for earthlings, for those created from "dust," for those who want to make heaven their final home, for those who can experience "in earth as it is in heaven," for those who will SEE God  ...  is to be "Pure In Heart."

"Prayer Is War!"

"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities,
against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world,
against spiritual wickedness in high places."
(Ephesians 6:12)

Fight, Warriors of the Most High God; swing that sword with
power, and fight for the cause
The Lord Jesus Christ is our strength; His spirit goes before us,
we need not fear the devil's claws
We are Warriors in earth, fighting for truth and the gospel,
even as Warriors in the heavens intercede
Angels fight to bring our answers, battling fiercely in the second
heaven, with flashes of lightning streaks
Don't Give Up, weary Warrior, for the sands are filling the
hourglass, and time is winding down
Keep your eyes on the prize, a home with Jesus in the skies,
and the coveted soul winner's crown
Reap the harvest and fight the opposition, for he knows the
time is short, and he's on the loser's end
So, hold your head up, Saint, because the tormentor has an
appointment, with the flames to descend
We know we win; it's just a matter of the mind, holding fast to
the Name, the Word, and the Blood
Remember, when attacks begin that it's because the Glory's
about to fall; the Lord is coming like a flood
The battle is not ours; it's the Lord's, with His bared arm, that
Isaiah said would stretch before the Nations
We must stand our ground, be strong in the Lord and the power
of His might, and strongly guard our station
Every soldier has his place, his position, and his orders; we
zoom in on the target, it's the world of lost souls
And we fight on, knowing the reins are held by the Master;
He sets up, tears down, and has the controls
Those streaks in the night sky are glints from Angels' swords, as
they wield and rule the second heaven
They're fighting for us against satan, his imps, and the plots
and plans of the demonic hellions
We are not alone in this war; our Savior made provision, to
protect and defend us from all evil
Our prayers rise as torpedoes of blood-bought fire, and they
paint the skies like a canvas on an easel
The war will be strong and hard, but the victory's already won;
and the march of the Church is uniting
It's a new movement around the world, as Nations meet the
Savior, His redemption, and His love so inviting
The sheaves are gathering, and the harvest is greater than ever
before, all looking up, with a Unity roar
Rejoice Warriors; Joy comes in the morning, and the Lion of
Judah urges us to See that "Prayer Is War!"

"Return To Me!"

"I watch you in your hurt and pain," says the Lord,
and I long for your hand in Mine
Your struggles are before My face, I AM your comforter,
and you are My own design
I wait for you and stand by as you strain to sleep, but
your burdens keep you awake
Don't you know that I love you and I shed my blood
for your heartache, all for your sake
Come unto Me; I was so hurt when you left Me, but I
have never left you nor forsaken you
For you see, I knew one day you would come back; you
would miss, and long for Me too
You are mine; your name is engraved in the scars in
My hands, forever to be known
My creation is My beloved, from Eden's dust, you are
the image of Me, My soul's groan
Have you not wandered too long, and your heart is so
weary, and aching for peace
Let My arms enfold you, wash away your sins, and
bring you a sweet release
Earth is My footstool, and the honest hearts draw My
eyes, to and fro from day to day
As I search for My own, and beckon them to My love,
from their lonely prodigal way
Come home, precious one, the fatted calf awaits, with
My robe of kingly stature
You can fall to your knees and be yourself now; put
aside the wayfaring actor
Let Me fill you with My Spirit, it's the JOY from above,
and it's the reason why I came
Surrender your heart, and I will wash away your stains, as
you obey, and are baptized in My name
For I knew you from the womb; you were chosen to
be mine, a vessel for all to see
My arms are open wide, dear one, it's time to rise from
the dust, and "Return To Me."
