"Whispers"

It's the sound of the breeze tickling my cheek,

and rustling the tresses of my hair

No, it's My Lord and His heavenly Host, calming

my fears, with touches of care

The room seems so still; the brush of soft feathers

seems to swish and flit through the air

Like wispy fronds of peace, sweeping away the fears,

doubts, and attempts of despair

A sporadic light flashes in my vision, and cascades

through the dark portals of night

Like a streak from heaven, sent to corral my inner

thoughts, so humble and contrite

My prayers ascend, with wings of Eagles to the home, 

of eternal Glory and ethereal aura

And I climb to a place, as my mind leaves this old  

world, in this early astounding aurora

To venture in prayer, into heaven's thronely domain,

of the highest and Holiest of realms

Leaves my own will behind, and sets my Lord Jesus

at the forefront, and at the waiting helm 

He's my love and my Lord, coming to visit me in a

wafting current of cool morning breezes

His presence brings a clarity and vision to a mind of

dilemma, and suddenly it ceases

Oh, the Glory of my Lord's touch, in the moonlight

hours of wonder, and of silence

It's an encounter of joy, entwined with cords of beauty,

in the glow of omnipotent brilliance

"Can heaven be this close?"  I wonder in my sleepy and

amazed state, of a bewildered mind

But, there's no doubting He's here; I would know it even

if I were unseeing, as the precious blind

One does not have to view Him, to know the Lord has

come; His entrance is announced in Spirit

It is like thunder and silence enfolded in one, an anomaly

that one does not have to see, or hear it

  Then, the dawn of morning light peeps through the darkness,

interrupting my bowed weeping vespers

 I don't mind, because His voice remains in my soul, with 

 sounds of sweet nothings, and "Whispers."

"Woe Is Me!"

"For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing

to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea,

woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!"

(I Corinthians 9:16)

The Apostle Paul can tell us all about it.  He was very busy persecuting and killing Christians, when the Lord knocked him off his horse and blinded him.  Why?  He wanted to get his attention  ...  and that pretty well did it!  Paul was converted to the Lord Jesus Christ, and oh, was he converted.  He gave it all he had for the gospel's sake, and he felt those words to the core of his soul  ...  "Woe Is Me!"

"Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they descendants

of Abraham? So am I.  Are they servants of Christ? (I speak as if insane) I more so;

 in far more labors, in far more imprisonments, beaten times without number,

often in danger of death.  Five times I received from the Jews thirty-nine lashes.  

Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked,

a night and a day I have spent in the deep.  I have been on frequent journeys, in dangers

from rivers, dangers from robbers, dangers from my countrymen, dangers from the

Gentiles, dangers in the city, dangers in the wilderness, dangers on the sea, dangers

 among false brethren; I have been in labor and hardship, through  many sleepless nights,

 in hunger and thirst, often without food, in cold and exposure.  Apart from such external

 things, there is the daily pressure upon me of concern for all the churches.  Who is weak

without my being weak? Who is led into sin without my intense concern?"

(2 Corinthians 11:22-29)

Ah, Paul.  He did it; He humbly endured it all for the gospel of Jesus Christ; he became all things to all men "that he might win some."  Hey, when Almighty God knocks you off your horse, you are never the same again!  He calls and chooses people for different reasons, and you best be responding  ...  ask Jonah.  The Lord God of the universe can and knows how to convince us; He knows how to get our undivided attention; He knows the heart and He knows how to break it.  Huh?  The Bible says the heart is "desperately wicked; who can know it?"  Our Lord God is the only One who knows it, and He surely can "reach it" if He so chooses.  The Lord Jesus Christ will not override our wills, but He can, and often will, bring us to the final point of giving in to Him in obeisance and surrender.  That oh so rebellious Jonah finally came to that very wise conclusion, eventually, after being swallowed, and then ultimately "spit out of" a huge fish  ...  What conclusion?  It's the same conclusion we come to, when we realize our Holy God has called us to something higher than ourselves, a world calling out to us for help, and   ...  "If I don't, woe is me!"

"For we cannot help speaking about what

we have seen and heard."

(Acts 4:20)

We could say it, you know.  We could say, "woe is me" if we don't tell what Jesus Christ has done for us, how he washed us clean in baptismal waters in His name, how he filled us with the Holy Ghost and we spoke in a language we had never learned by His Spirit, how He gave us new life, joy, and peace, and how he forgave all of our sins by His sacrifice on the cross and His blood shed for all of mankind.  That's why Paul gave his life for the gospel; that's why he was arrested and stoned, thrown in prison, and that's why he "preached." 

"Even though you have ten thousand guardians in Christ,

 you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became

your father through the gospel."

(I Corinthians 4:15)

The Apostle Paul became a "spiritual father" to many by bringing them the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Paul had a mandate to take the gospel to all creatures, and so do we, who minister for the Lord, so do the preachers who are called to spend their lives "preaching, preaching, preaching" the gospel to the entire world.  Everything is riding on the "preaching of the gospel."  "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come."  (Matthew 24:14)  When will the end come?  When the last one hears it, when the last soul in some nation, maybe Africa, Europe, America, some little island in the middle of the Sea, some little town, some jungle area  ... when some precious soul hears it, and he or she is the "last one"  ...  and then, the end  ...

'The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose,

and each will be rewarded according to his own labor."

(I Corinthians 3:8)

It's all about SOULS:

If we do not reach them  ...

"WOE IS ME!"

"I Believe!"

"And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed

me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,

 Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious,

even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;  And had a wall great and high, and had

twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which

are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:  On the east three gates;

on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates. 

 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the

twelve apostles of the Lamb.   And he that talked with me had a golden reed to

 measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof.   And the city lieth

foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city

with the reed,  twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the

height of it are equal.   And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty

and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.   And the

building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear

 glass.   And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of

precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a

chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald;  The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh,

 chrysolyte; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh,

a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.  And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every

several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were

 transparent glass.   And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and

 the Lamb are the temple of it.   And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the

 moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.  

 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings

of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.   And the gates of it shall not be

 shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.   And they shall bring the glory

 and honour of the nations into it.   And there shall in no wise enter into it any

thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie:

but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life."

"Before We Call!"

"And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; 

and while they are yet speaking, I will hear."
(Isaiah 65:24)

It happens in a sudden moment in time; no prayers have gone up

for a heavenly response from portals above

The obstacles that usually hinder, and the devil's ploys to delay,

 are bypassed with an angelic hand, and a shove

What a moment it is when our answer arrives; especially since

 it was never a plea, but it was answered in a flash

We are left gaping in awe at the miraculous event; It's like rain

 falling in a spectacular sudden ethereal splash 

Our God is never late; but this was different, we uttered not

a praying word, yet the answer interrupted time

It's like the precise movement of a clock, when the hour has come, 

 there's a mighty sound of victory with a chime

We look up with thanks from a heart full of love, to the One who

 knows the silent desires of His beloved

He has bestowed His blessing upon us, and it flows down like a

 gentle wafting breeze, clad in a velvet glove

It's a lesson for us to never underestimate our God, and to never
 give up, for we belong to Him and He knows 

In all things He has our best in mind, and He will give, as we give

 all of us to all of Him, as we bow and grow

The circle is complete when Creator and creation flow in a never

 ending power, of our hands to His hands

And, it flows back and forth like the turning of an hourglass, with

 the falling of its positioned obedient sands

Trust is our bond with the One who formed this "dust;" and we can

 never calculate His love, and His gifts

We just have to learn to move with the cloud by day and the fire by

 night, as the mind of our Maker ebbs and shifts

He leads us up the mountain, holds us in still waters, and woos us

 to His hiding place, of love in His arms 

We are forever awakened by His sweet whispers at dark, and His

 comfort rendered by His omnipotent charms

Our Lily of the Valley leaves an aroma in our midst; when our

 answer rests upon us, like a lingering mist

It's like God has touched us, and the world doesn't know our smile

 is because we have been heaven kissed

It's a tryst between us and the Lover of our souls, an eternal pact

 with the One, who is a covenant maker

He's our foundation of power, our Spirit of glory, our mighty

 strong tower, and our Holy Ghost anchor

Nothing can separate us from our Lord and us; we're sealed by His

 blood, confirmed by His Spirit, and His love

It's a holy cord not easily broken; only we ourselves can sever the

 alliance; it's something the world knows not of

So, when the Lord sends that wind, that answers in an instant of

 a non-prayed blessing, from heaven's halls

We can only bow in response to the One who said He would never
  forsake us, and would answer "Before We Call!"
